Activities of the Foundation for a Free Information Infrastructure in 2002
In 2002 the FFII closely monitored the situation concerning software patent legislation in Brussels and continued to be a major source of expertise for journalists and politicians. Hartmut Pilch, Peter Gerwinski, André Rebentisch and others attended major conferences on behalf of FFII. The FFII also greatly improved its internal organisational structures and grew in terms of number of members from a dozen to >100.
The FFII Workgroup for Protection of Information Innovation against the Abuseof the Patent System participates in conferences and exhibitions. In 2002 we again have a full program including booths at exhibitions and participation in academic panels and parliamentary hearings. We try to document these activities.
What FFII had to report in 2002 about broad property claims on inventions and their abusive extension to computer-aided reasoning, calculating, organising and formulating.
